Turkcell’s New Handset with NFC

Turkcell-nfc-rfid-blogTurkey’s largest mobile operator, Turkcell, has announced the launch of the Turkcell MaxiPLUS5, a new NFC-enabled T Series handset.

Although it’s just an alternative to other NFC smartphones, the Android-based MaxiPLUS5 first deploys Turkcell’s new NFC-based Mobile Contactless Order system. There’s an NFC-enabled refrigerator magnet in each handset that can be tapped to automatically launch the phone’s Mobile Order application. From there, users can use their phones to directly order various online goods from participating suppliers. According to Turkcell, the application is server-based, so all product details can be changed over-the-air in real time.

A Mobile Assistant application is also featured in the device. It can search and find the answer questions such as invoice information, outstanding balance, weather conditions or the nearest pharmacy. Among other functions, a new Smart Response application enables the device to change settings and receive a call without pushing any buttons.

In addition, the Turkcell TV application with more than 42 TV channels is featured, as well as the Tunein radio application, which makes it possible to tune in to more than 50 thousands stations.

The device is equipped with the latest Android 4.0 operating system and features a 3.5 inch sensitive touch screen, 800MHz Qualcomm processor, 5 megapixel camera, and 8GB memory in addition to embedded NFC technology.
